Gotham City: Team MVPs Announced

The voting is closed and the MVPs for the Gotham City Sports League have been selected. The winners are very deserving of the honor. So without further ado, here are the winners:

Margaret - She garnered more votes than any Hound, and with good cause. Every time she pitched we knew we had a very good chance to win. She also brought that leadership and gutsy determination whenever she was at the field. Went undefeated as a pitcher with an unreal 1.94 ERA. Really elevated her game in the playoffs, where she had an On Base Percentage of .583 and pitched two shutouts in the championship finale.

Iain - Hard to believe Mr. Clutch could improve on last season, but he did. He showed up to more games this time around and the result was 8 home runs and an astonishing 37 RBIs. Just to put that in perspective, the next highest RBI total on the team was 13. To top it off,  he was a dominant defensive shortstop, and along with Margaret helped out his teammates whenever he could by offering sage advice.

There were several other Hounds receiving votes. Those All-Stars are as follows:

Cindy - C.Rod received more votes than anybody not named Iain or Margaret. She was a critical part of our success this season. She was an ironwoman, coming out to play every single weekend. She was also a consistent and disciplined hitter and played a solid outfield.

Pat - The Bopper had a very strong start to the season. He hit some tape-measure home runs that were quite impressive, but he also knew when to bear down and just get the base hit. He missed a big chunk of time towards the end of the regular season, but he came back for the playoffs and picked up right where he left off.

Camille - She led the ladies in batting average in the regular season. She was a quiet but fiery competitor who opposing outfielders quickly realized they couldn't play too shallow on.

Jason C - Cardillo was also an iron man, coming out every single weekend for his team. He was solid in the outfield, and used his blazing speed to great advantage on the offensive side.

Jason T - Got off to kind of a slow start by his standards, but by the time the critical part of the season came around, he was ready and delivered big-time. He along with Cardillo, Cindy, and MikePa formed a formidable defensive outfield.

George - To that one person that voted for the Cap– come forward, you have a drink on me! Thanks for recognizing that stats aren't everything...

Wow. What an honor! I have to say, though, that a pitcher in slow-pitch softball does not get away with shut-outs with a GREAT DEFENSE! Thanks for all the catches and great plays in the field. Margaret
